Abstract

The successful economic policy responses to the COVID-19 pandemic played an essential role in the robust economic performance in Jakarta. As recovery and long-term economic prospects were optimized, supported by the financial policy and structural changes stimulating productivity growth, increasing domestic consumption. This rise affects the strengthening of some economic indicators amid persisting recession and investor uncertainty, shown by Jakarta imports.

Closing out the first quartal, the imports value of Jakarta clocked US$ 7,243.39 million. This figure soared by 30.51 percent compared to the previous month. While compared to March 2022 (year-on-year), the figures rose by 3.15 percent. The oil and gas and non-oil and gas imports mainly drove the import growth in this period.

Meanwhile, the cumulative import value of Jakarta slightly dipped by 1.00 percent compared to the same period in the previous year (January – March 2022). Even though the oil and gas imports rose by 24.21 percent, the decline in nonoil and gas imports by 1.50 percent drove the decline in this period as this sector dominated the total imports of Jakarta.
