Abstract

The Jakarta’s economic recovery continues, as can be seen from the continued increase positive sentiment to public economic activity. The improvement in domestic activity affected the domestic demand, which was reflected in the improvement of Jakarta’s import value in March 2022.

Jakarta’s import value in March 2022 reached the highest value at US$ 7.0 billion. After declining for two consecutive months, Jakarta’s imports rose by 26.8 percent compared to the previous month (monthto-month). When compared to March 2021 (year-on-year), Jakarta’s imports rose by 29.2 percent. These increases were due to the rise in imports of oil and gas and imports of non-oil and gas commodities.

All groups in the classification of the use of imported goods (BEC) rose compared to March 2021 (year-on-year). Imports of capital goods had the highest increase (34.5 percent). The growth in capital goods indicates that the Jakarta’s economy has moved to create added value. Furthermore, import of consumer goods rose by 32.6 percent, and import of raw and auxiliary materials rose by 27.1 percent.
