Abstract

The global economic situation is experiencing a slowdown, impacting Jakarta’s export performance. Export performance has slightly fluctuated amid the current global economic situation. The decline in prices for main export commodities and the weakening of the rupiah exchange rate against the dollar has contributed to a decline in Jakarta’s export performance over the past semester. In c-to-c terms, exports from January to June 2023 experienced a downward trend of 5.59 percent compared to 2022.

In line with the c-to-c period, export performance month-to-month declined. Jakarta’s exports in June 2023 reached US$ 858.22 million, contracted by 10.66 percent from the previous month. Exports declined after the last month’s record high. Only Articles of apparel and clothing accessories (knitted) and preparations of cereals and flour increased.

The year-on-year exports contracted 13.85 percent from June 2022. The trigger was the sharp decline in several main commodities, such as miscellaneous chemical products and animal or vegetable fats and oils.
