Abstract

Jakarta’s tourism sector has recovered after contracting due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It can be seen from the arrival of tourists to Jakarta, which reached more than 158.7 thousand arrivals in May 2023. For the first time, the number of foreign tourist arrivals surpasses pre-COVID-19. In May 2019, the number of foreign tourist arrivals reached 156.7 thousand.

The number of foreign tourist arrivals increased both of month to month and year on year. The number of foreign tourists in May 2023 rose by 59.74 percent compared to the previous month. Meanwhile, compared to the same month last year, it increased by 174.40 percent.

Based on nationality, the highest growth in May 2023 was Egypt, with 149.70 percent. In terms of volume, China became the country with the highest number of arrivals with 28,300 arrivals
