Abstract

The better handling of the COVID-19 pandemic by countries in the world has a positive influence on economic activity. In addition, the reduction in the application of Public Activity Restrictions (PPKM) to level 1 in Jakarta has not only increased public mobility but has also played a role in encouraging capacity building for economic activities in Jakarta. The business world’s enthusias impacted on increasing demand not only from domestic but also from international sources.

The improvement of domestic economy was indicated by the increasing trend of Jakarta’s exports towards the end of the year. In November 2021 exports were recorded at US $ 1.04 billion, increasing by 7.1 percent compared to the previous month. This figure was the highest number for the last five years. This increase could not be separated from the strengthening of main export commodities such as clothing and accessories (knitted), various chemical products, and fish, crustaceans and mollusk.

Compared to the same month the previous year (y-on-y), exports increased by 7.9 percent. Commodities that boost exports on a year on year basis were animal/vegetable fats and oils and various chemical products. Both commodities rose more than 100 percent.
