Abstract

Year-on-year (yoy) inflation in DKI Jakarta throughout July 2023 was observed to have eased again, continuing the decline in the previous four consecutive months. The price index this month fell significantly compared to July last year. This shows that the increase in the price of various goods and services in the past year have been quite controlled.

In July 2023, year-on-year (yoy) inflation in the capital city was recorded to have fallen to a level of 2 percent for the first time in the last year, after persistently hovering above 3 percent since last July 2022. Inflation in July was 2.81 percent, down 0.39 percentage points compared to the previous month. This inflation was triggered by gasoline (0.699 percent), house contracts (0.307 percent), and rice (0.197 percent).

On the other hand, on a month-to-month (mtm) basis, inflation actually increased compared to the earlier month. Inflation in July 2023 was 0.19 percent, up 0.18 percentage points from last June which was only 0.01 percent. Rising air transport fares as well as the prices of purebred chicken and eggs were the main triggers for inflation this time with the share of 0.074 percent, 0.061 percent and 0.013 percent respectively.
