Abstract

The global economy is slowing down due to various shocks and challenges. High inflation and disruption to trade supply chains have caused global economic growth to continue slowing down. This condition slightly affected Jakarta’s exports in this period.

Exports in October 2022 were recorded at US$ 988.97 million, or fell by 2.99 percent compared to the previous month. This condition was triggered by the decline in the export value of several main commodities, which had a large share of Jakarta’s exports. These commodities were soap and washing preparations, vehicles and accessories thereof, machinery and mechanical appliances and part thereof, and precious metals and jewellery/precious stones.

Contrary to the month-to-month export growth, year-on-year exports showed positive growth. Exports in October rose 2.14 percent compared to the same month in the previous year. For the first time, the residues and waste from the food industries were the commodities with the highest yearon-year increase.
