Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic, which was relatively under control, encouraged increased mobility and community activities, increasing demand both domestically and globally. The increase in global demand has boosted export performance to grow positively. It was reflected in the total exports from January to February 2022 cumulatively, which increased 11.1 percent compared to the same period the previous year. This value was recorded as the highest cumulative export value for the last five years.

Meanwhile, compared to the previous month, Jakarta’s exports in February 2022 fell by 6.8 percent. The decline in exports in this period was triggered by the decline in most sectors except the oil and gas sector. Oil and gas exports rose by 41.5 percent from the previous month, which was slightly dampened the decline in Jakarta’s exports.

On the other hand, year-on-year exports rose slightly by 2.5 percent. This increase mainly driven by the rise in exports of seven main commodities. The Exports of animal or vegetable fats and oils accounted for the highest rose, reaching 86.8 percent.
