Abstract

The formal sector dominates labor absorption in Jakarta during August 2022. As many as 63.12 percent of the working population in Jakarta work in the formal sector. This is driven by the increased of educated workers (high school graduates and above).

Workers in the formal sector increased by 153 thousand people, which came from new workers and also the shift of workers from the informal sector. On the other hand, informal workers were reduced by 15 thousand people.

Overall, the number of workers increased by 138 thousand people while unemployment decreased by 63 thousand people. This led to a decrease in the open unemployment rate (TPT) by 1.31 percent from 8.50 percent to 7.18 percent in August 2022
